Silkworm seeds from Nanning, Guangxi embark on the “New Silk Road” and are exported to Central Asian countries for the first time
Recently, after passing the inspection and quarantine of Yongzhou Customs, 99,600 pieces of 500 boxes of “Jingsong x Haoyue” silkworm seeds cultivated by Nanning Yongzhou Silkworm Breeding Co., Ltd. in Guangxi were successfully exported “One Belt, One Road” is a country along Turkmenistan. This is the first time that Guangxi silkworm seeds have been exported to a Central Asian country.
In recent years, with the formation of a new pattern of “the world’s sericulture looks to China, and China’s sericulture looks to Guangxi”, Nanning has actively integrated into it by virtue of its location, technology and good sericulture production foundation. And as my country’s economic and trade exchanges with countries and regions along the “Belt and Road” become increasingly close, the traditional farming of sericulture has incorporated new vitality and international elements, becoming a new carrier of economic and trade exchanges with countries along the “Belt and Road”. The silkworm breeds cultivated by Yongzhou Silkworm Breeding Co., Ltd. in Nanning, Guangxi have the characteristics of high cocoon production, high-quality cocoon silk, and strong fluorine resistance, which have aroused the interest of foreign customers.
“Before exporting, the customs has been paying close attention to our matter, helping us understand the requirements for exporting silkworm seeds to Turkmenistan, and guiding us on what information we need to know for exporting during the epidemic. After knowing that all conditions have met the export requirements , we are finally relieved.” said the person in charge of Yongzhou Silkworm Breeding Co., Ltd. in Nanning, Guangxi. Silkworms have strict requirements on the storage environment and storage time. Excessive transportation time will affect the survival rate of silkworms. Yongzhou Customs ensures that silkworm seeds are exported on time by optimizing export procedures for agricultural products, arranging on-site inspections on a priority basis, conducting timely inspections and issuing animal health certificates.
“In order to ensure the smooth export of this batch of silkworm seeds, we have arranged for dedicated personnel to track the production information of silkworm seeds in real time, understand Turkmenistan’s quarantine requirements for imported silkworm seeds in advance, and provide guidance. Enterprises should take epidemic prevention and disinfection measures and guide enterprises to declare in compliance with laws and regulations.” said a customs officer from the Yongzhou Customs Supervision Section.
In the early days of the COVID-19 epidemic, the export volume of silkworm seeds dropped significantly due to the epidemic. There was no hope of exporting silkworm seeds cultivated by enterprises. The sericulture industry in some countries was facing “extinction”. As the domestic epidemic situation improves, the export of silkworm seeds is gradually picking up. High-quality silkworm seed resources rich in technology are flying to Central Asian countries on the east wind of the “Belt and Road Initiative”, realizing the technology export of the sericulture industry, and continuing to promote cooperation with the “Belt and Road Initiative”. Economic and trade cooperation and exchanges among countries along the “One Road” route.
