3. Velveteen
(1) Basic characteristics: Velveteen is a cotton fabric that uses warp or weft yarns to form short, dense, flat piles on the surface of the fabric. Velveteen has the characteristics of full and flat pile, thick texture, soft finish, soft hand feel, good warmth retention, wear resistance, and not easy to wrinkle. Among them, those with warp yarns raised are called warp velvets, and those with weft yarns raised are called weft velvets. Due to the high manual labor intensity of cutting weft velvet, the production efficiency is low. No longer in production. Therefore, the velveteen fabric now referred to refers to warp velveteen. When weaving velveteen, the production efficiency of the single-layer raised rod weaving method is low, so the double-layer weaving method is generally used. The properties of velveteen fabric and corduroy fabric are similar, but the system and characteristics of pile formation are different.
