Xinjiang: Land rents are rising and cotton farmers have not yet determined their planting intentions
As the Spring Festival holiday approaches, all walks of life have entered the finishing stage. Most enterprises in Xinjiang have completed their cotton purchase and processing, and people have entered the stage of returning home.
A local cotton farmer in Xinjiang said that although his income increased last year, he feels confused now, mainly because land costs have increased significantly in the new year, which has led to an increase in the risk of cotton planting. Last year, the cotton farmer’s land rental cost was less than 1,000 yuan/mu, but the current land cost in northern Xinjiang is 1,300-1,500 yuan/mu, and some land prices are even higher. The cotton farmer’s planting land has not yet been determined. Factors such as planting climate, agricultural product prices, and seed cotton sales prices will have a direct impact on cotton planting income. The cotton farmer said that he is under great pressure to settle accounts.
