Hebei Hengshui: Heavy rainfall helps cotton grow
Affected by the cold vortex weather process, Hengshui, Hebei Province experienced heavy rainfall from 16:00 on July 11th to 8th on July 12th, which was extremely beneficial to the growth of local cotton.
It is understood that the rainfall caused by this weather process is mainly concentrated in the south, west and north of Hengshui, with an average rainfall of 35.2 mm, a few areas with rainfall reaching 50 mm (heavy rain level), and individual areas exceeding 100 mm (heavy rain level) ), water accumulated in most farmland.
Since late May to early July, effective rainfall has been scarce in the Hengshui area of Hebei Province. The growth of most crops, including cotton, has been generally affected. Among them, major growth indicators such as cotton plant height, fruit branches, flower buds, and young bolls are generally lower than year-round level. It is currently mid-July, and local cotton growth has entered the more critical flowering and bolling period. The arrival of this drenching rain will greatly improve the soil drought. In the future, cotton farmers will supplement it with measures such as spraying foliar fertilizers to increase cotton fields. Fertility, cotton growth will be restoratively adjusted.
