Bangladesh will invest US$100 million to build Chittagong Garment Park
According to a report by Financial Express on March 22, the Bangladesh Economic Zone Authority (BEZA) and the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) recently signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation to invest 20 million yuan in the Mirsarai Economic Zone in Chittagong. US$100 million will be used to build a garment park, which is expected to create about 500,000 jobs. BGMEA Chairman Islam said he expected the garment park will help achieve the 2021 garment export target of US$50 billion. BEZA executive chairman Chowdhury said the garment park will promote the sustainable development of Bangladesh’s garment industry.
