Since the spring sowing, the temperature in various parts of Xinjiang has been relatively stable. Although bad weather such as strong winds and hail has occurred in some areas, the area involved is small and has little impact on the overall growth of cotton in the later period.
A cotton farmer in the Jinghe area of northern Xinjiang said that there was a lot of rain last week (May 8-13), and the temperature difference between day and night was large. Cotton grew slowly and small and large seedlings appeared. As the temperature rises this week, cotton growth gradually returns to normal. So far, the cotton grown by this cotton farmer is growing well. The cotton seedlings are about 13 centimeters tall and have 4-6 true leaves. Currently, cotton farmers’ main tasks include cultivating and spraying pesticides to prevent pests (aphids, red spider mites, etc.).
