Xinjiang Shaya: Cotton growth is normal and topping is about to end
Affected by bad weather such as strong winds, hail, and low temperatures in March and April, the sowing and growth of new cotton in Xinjiang’s Shaya area were affected to a certain extent, and some cotton seedlings were replanted and resown. So far, the growth progress of cotton varies, and the growth progress of cotton fields that have been re-sowed is slower than the same period in previous years.
As the temperature in Xinjiang gradually rises, cotton growth progress has accelerated. Local cotton farmers said that field management mainly uses a small amount of watering and fertilization to raise seedlings. The current height of cotton seedlings is about 60 centimeters.
It is understood that cotton in Kuqa and Xinhe, Xinjiang’s smaller disaster-stricken areas, has begun to bear fruit, and new cotton has gradually entered the topping period. Normal cotton seedlings are expected to be topping before July 13, and cotton fields in the disaster-stricken areas have resumed sowing. The topping is expected to be completed before the 20th.
