EU issues consumer warning on Chinese children’s sportswear
On October 20, 2017, the European Commission’s Rapid Alert System for Non-Food Products (RAPEX) issued a consumer warning (alert number: A12/1410/17) on Chinese-made “JOMASPORT” brand children’s sportswear. The country notifying this case is Croatia. The products notified this time are children’s sportswear, which consists of pants and sweatshirts. The sweatshirts have hoods and zippers. Drawstring on hood. Drawstring at waistband. Composition: 100% polyester. The product style/model number is 500074. The barcode is 9996353648130. The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development Industry Classification Code (OECD Portal Category) is 67000000 – Clothing.
The drawstrings on the necks of the above-mentioned clothes may entangle and strangle children, possibly posing a suffocation hazard. In addition, the waist drawstring is too long, which may cause children to get entangled and fall during various activities, posing a risk of injury. This product does not comply with the requirements of the relevant European standard EN14682.
At present, importers have taken delisting measures on the above products.
