Vietnam’s textile and apparel industry achieved a surplus of nearly US$100 million in the first quarter
According to Vietnam’s “Investment News” report on April 20, the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association (Vitas) announced that the total textile and apparel exports in the first quarter were US$7.62 billion, a year-on-year increase of 13.35%, completing 22.4% of the full-year export plan, including clothing. Export volume was US$5.98 billion, a year-on-year increase of 12.49%. Imports of textile and clothing raw and auxiliary materials amounted to US$4.6 billion, a year-on-year increase of 22.82%. The trade surplus was US$3.87 billion, a year-on-year increase of 3.69%. Exports to key markets such as the United States, CPTPP agreement participating countries, the European Union, South Korea, China, and ASEAN have all increased significantly. At the same time, corporate orders are also very impressive, and many companies have received orders until the third quarter of this year.
