Lezhi, Sichuan: Stable voltage, sufficient power, rapid development of sericulture industry
“Our silk is made of high-quality silk as raw material to ensure productquality. Please feel free to buy…” On March 11, in Lezhi, Sichuan In the live broadcast room of Shanghai Yunda Co., Ltd.’s e-commerce park, Deng Rutao, the head of Wangyi Agricultural Development Co., Ltd. in Qingshui Village, Gaosi Town, is promoting silk quilts on the live broadcast platform.
Qingshui Village has a mild climate and a long frost-free period, making it suitable for planting mulberry trees. Silkworms feed on mulberry leaves. Thanks to the large-scale planting of mulberry trees in the village, a large number of local villagers raise silkworms. In early spring every year, villagers use quilting machines to stretch cotton bags made from silkworm cocoons the previous year into silk quilts. Today, silk production has become the main source of income for the villagers of Qingshui Village.
“When turning the quilt, only when the voltage is stable can the mechanical force be more uniform. It can stretch and widen the silk floss without causing fiber breakage, ensuring that the silk quilt is even and smooth.” Deng Rutao introduced.
Wangyi Agricultural Development Co., Ltd. was established in 2020. The Qingshui Village collective provides factory buildings and villagers raise funds as shares. It purchases more than 5 tons of silkworm cocoons every year. Before the factory was put into use, Lezhi County Power Supply Company organized professional and technical personnel to come to understand the company’s power needs and set up dedicated power supply lines to meet the electricity demand for silk quilt production.
“In the past, we made silk quilts purely by hand. The output was low and the feel was uneven. We could only make one set in three hours.” Song Liangju, a villager in Qingshui Village, said, “Now a processing plant has been built in the village, which saves manpower. The output is increased, and a uniform and smooth silk quilt can be produced in half an hour.”
Like Qingshui Village, there are many villages in Lezhi County that take the sericulture industry as their leading industry. In recent years, in order to expand the local sericulture product market, the Lezhi County Government has actively attracted investment. In January, the e-commerce park project of Shanghai Yunda Co., Ltd. in Lezhi County, Sichuan was completed with a total investment of approximately 5 billion yuan and an area of approximately 1,000 acres. It is a large-scale comprehensive industrial park integrating live broadcast, supply, and logistics.
By the end of October 2022, the basic construction of the live broadcast and logistics modules in the park will be completed. Lezhi County Power Supply Company organized employees to follow up in a timely manner, conduct on-site surveys, design power supply line plans, prepare construction materials in advance, set up low-voltage lines, and deliver electricity to the entrance of the park.
“Both live broadcast delivery and logistics sorting equipment require stable power supply.” Park director Wu Wucheng said, “The power supply company not only delivers electricity to the door, but also often organizes employees to come to the park to help us check the lines and equipment. ”
In the past two years, in order to promote rural revitalization, the Lezhi County Government has promoted the integrated development of the sericulture industry and the e-commerce industry. Lezhi County Power Supply Company took the initiative and invested 4.25 million yuan to transform and upgrade rural power grids in Qingshui Village and Qiaobeitou Village, key villages in the sericulture industry. It replaced 11 distribution transformers and renovated 21 kilometers of overhead lines to serve the development of rural industries.
Currently, there are 1,123 villagers in Gaosi Town engaged in sericulture-related production. From the beginning of the year to now, they have produced more than 60 types of sericulture products such as silk quilts and mulberry wine. In 2022, the average annual net income of the 1,123 village households in the town will reach 78,600 yuan.
