Two cotton varieties in Shuanghe City of the Fifth Division of the Corps passed national approval
Recently, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs issued Announcement No. 500. Two cotton varieties, “Fifth Division 16-13” and “Fifth Division 16-15”, bred by the Fifth Division Agricultural Sciences, passed national approval.
It is understood that the fiber quality of the two approved cotton varieties has reached “double 30” or above, the micronaire value is A level, and the fiber trait indicators are reasonably matched.
“To solve the problem of coarse cotton fiber quality, the most important way is to use high-quality cotton varieties to solve the problem from the intrinsic quality. The promotion of these two cotton varieties in the city can make the cotton quality reach the first level of white cotton .” said Cao Yang, deputy director of the Fifth Division’s Agricultural Science Institute.
“Fifth Division 16-13” and “Fifth Division 16-15” were configured with hybrid combinations in 2009 and 2010 respectively. In that year, additional planting was carried out at the Southern Breeding Base in Sanya City, Hainan Province, which accelerated the variety selection process.
It is reported that the Institute of Agricultural Sciences of the Fifth Division deploys about 800 hybrid combinations every year.
