Flame-retardant standards for protective clothing for workers operating in high-temperature environments (not applicable to welder clothing and fire-fighting clothing)

Detection methods and criteria:

Judgment criteria: The test sample cannot burn to its top or edge.

No holes should be formed in the test specimen.

There should be no burning droplets or falling droplets on the test sample.

The flame delay time should be less than or equal to 2 seconds.

The flame retardant time should be less than or equal to 2 seconds.

Testing method: Before conducting the short-term spreading combustion test, the method described in ISO6330 should be used to dissolve the sample in water with 1g/l IEC detergent, then put the sample into the washing machine and wash it 5 times in the machine, and then dry it immediately. If there are no special provisions on the instructions for use label, washing should be carried out according to method 2A at 60°C, and drying should be carried out according to method E (cylinder drying).

In compliance with ISO3175 regulations, dry-cleaning fabrics should be labeled and only dry-cleaned 5 times. If the fabric or suit does not have a label, the fabric will be tested individually after 5 washes and dry cleaning.

Perform fabric pre-treatment according to the method, and then perform ignition testing according to the EN532 method.

Fabric size change requirements: According to the requirements of EN340, the shrinkage and deformation of the fabric after 5 washes, in accordance with the instructions of the garment factory, should not exceed 3% in the warp direction and 3% in the weft direction. .

Detection operation process and preparation

Preparation of test samples (mainly single-layer fabrics): six test samples length (200±1) mm X
Width (160±1) mm, three pieces are cut radially and the other three are weft cut and installed on the cloth clip.

Humidity and temperature adjustment: The test sample must be placed in an environment with relative humidity (65±5%) and temperature (20±2)°C for at least 24 hours for state adjustment. After the status adjustment, if the test is not performed immediately, the adjusted test sample should be placed in a fully enclosed container. Remove the fabric sample from the fully enclosed container or conditioning environment and start testing within 2 minutes.

Adjustment of the testing environment: Perform the testing test in an environment between 10-30°C and a relative humidity between 15-80%. At the same time, when the testing starts, the rate of airflow passing through the surface of each test sample is 0.2 seconds.

The operating position of the igniter: Keep the igniter at a vertical angle to the surface of the test sample, so that the central axis of the igniter is 20 mm higher than the lower row of needles, and it should be in line with the vertical centerline of the test sample. Ensure that the distance between the igniter and the surface of the test sample is (17 ± 1) mm.

Flame adjustment (distance between the horizontal flame and the specimen): Place the igniter in a vertical resting position, ignite and preheat the igniter for at least 2 minutes, so that the flame length is approximately 40 mm. Move the igniter to the horizontal rest position and adjust the horizontal flame length to (25±2) mm.

Flame position: Move the igniter from the initial rest position to the horizontal position. Check whether the flame can touch the sample in this position.

Note: The distance between the flame and the specimen should be checked regularly.

Detection operation process

Install the testing instrument and install the testing sample cloth on the testing sample clamp. Ignite and burn on the surface of the cloth sample for 10 seconds. Observe and record the following conditions (please refer to the correct flammability testing standards)

a)
The properties of the test sample and the sequence number of each layer of fabric in the test sample composed of multi-layer composite fabrics,

b) Detect which surface layer of the sample is ignited with the detection flame,

c)
For any ignition source, observe whether the boundary of the flame touches the upper edge or vertical edge of the test specimen.

d) Whether there are holes formed?

e) Burning droplets or melting droplets are produced,

f) Whether the flame retardant (usually from the charring area) extends to the damaged area,

g) The ignition delay time is accurate to the nearest second,

Note: A delay time of less than one second should be recorded as 0 seconds.

h) The flame retardant time should also be accurate to the nearest second.

Note: Flame retardant time of less than one second should be recorded as 0 seconds.

Test test report

The test report should include the following records:

a) Reference standard document number of the detection method,

b) For each test sample, judge it by applying the correct flammability performance standards, and list the records as required.

Section: Basic Requirements

Detection methods and judgment standards:

Judgment criteria:

a) After any test sample is ignited, there should be no burning that spreads to the edge of the fabric or the upper end of the fabric.

b) There should be no holes formed in any test sample after ignition.

c) There should be no burning droplets or falling molten material in any test sample after ignition.

d) The flame delay time must be less than or equal to 2 seconds.

e) Flame retardant

f) Whether the flame retardant (usually from the charring area) extends to the damaged area,

g) The ignition delay time is accurate to the nearest second,

Note: A delay time of less than one second should be recorded as 0 seconds.

h) The flame retardant time should also be accurate to the nearest second.

Note: Flame retardant time less than one second should be recorded as 0 seconds

The time must be less than or equal to 2 seconds.

※ Negative effects of falling metal droplets: Test according to the requirements. The clothing assembly must have at least 15 droplets of metal falling.

Detection method:

Sample preparation

The test samples are mainly based on test fabrics, and the required quantity and size must be consistent with the relevant test methods. If there are no special provisions, the test shall be carried out based on the received test samples.

Textile fabric pre-treatment process

The test samples are washed or dry-cleaned according to the requirements on the instructions for use label, and then the performance of the textile fabrics and their clothing assemblies are tested according to the special safety precautions.

Add 1g/L to front loading horizontal drum washing machine
Wash the sample five times with soft water using IEC detergent, and then dry it according to the method specified in ISO:6330:1984 edition.

There are no other special provisions in the label. Water washing should be performed by method 2A, the temperature is controlled at (60±3)°C, and then the sample is dried (tumble drying) using method E.

The test samples are thoroughly washed and have identification marks, according to ISO
The requirements of 3175 stipulate that only 5 dry cleanings are carried out. If the fabric or garment does not have an identification label, the fabric must be tested individually after five washes and five dry cleanings.

Temperature and humidity status adjustment

If there are no other special provisions in the testing method, textile testing parts must be placed in an environment with a temperature of (20±2)°C and a relative humidity of (65±5)% for at least 24 hours, and leather products must be placed under the same conditions for at least 7 days, and then Detect separately. After adjusting the relative humidity and temperature in this environment, immediately remove the test sample from the environment and perform the test within 5 minutes.

Breaking strength

The breaking strength of textile fabrics is evaluated in the transverse and weft directions of the fabric according to the requirements of ISO5081. (The small breaking strength should be 300 Newtons)

Tear strength

The test sample is tested in the transverse and weft directions. The tearing strength of the textile fabric is evaluated according to the requirements of the A1 method in the ISO4674:1977 version. The tearing strength of the textile fabric is tested at right angles to the plane of the fabric in two directions and according to the requirements of ISO3374. Required to evaluate the tearing strength of leather products. (The minimum tearing strength should be 15 Newtons)

Judgment of shrinkage (size change)

Test according to the dry cleaning method or water washing method, and evaluate the shrinkage of textile fabrics according to the provisions of ISO5077. (Shrinkage not greater than 3%)

Assessment of flame spread

After the test sample is washed or dry-cleaned according to the prescribed method, the EN532 method is used to test the flame spread performance of the fabric.

The impact of falling metal droplets on fabric properties

After the test sample is washed or dry-cleaned, the impact of falling metal droplets is evaluated in accordance with the requirements of EN348.

If the average number of molten droplets falling on the ten test samples is between 15 and 15.5, then a second test of ten cloth samples will be conducted, and the starting point shall be based on the average data of the twenty cloth samples.
