Cotton supply and demand in Pakistan’s domestic market are tight
According to Pakistan’s “News” report, cotton prices in Pakistan’s domestic market have been rising. Cotton transactions in the open market shrank on Thursday, with prices hitting a record high of 6,900 rupees per maund (82.6 pounds). The contradiction between supply and demand has become more tense. .
The report also said that because there are still two months until new cotton is launched, Pakistan’s domestic lint cotton supply is stretched thin. Currently, there are only about 80,000 bales of lint cotton in reserve, which is less than the daily needs of spinning mills. Market participants believe that Pakistan’s total cotton demand in 2010 will be about 16 million bales, but the expected output is only 12.69 million bales, leaving a large gap.
