Sinopec polyester staple fiber products return to EU
It was learned from China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation that 18 tons of Sinopec’s hollow fibers will be delivered to an EU customer in mid-June. This is the first time in six years that Sinopec’s polyester staple fiber products have successfully returned to the EU’s high-end market.
Starting in March 2005, the European Union imposed a dumping tariff of 80.2% on polyester staple fiber products from mainland China, and Sinopec’s polyester staple fiber brand was forced to withdraw from the EU market. The EU made a decision on May 30 to end anti-dumping on Chinese polyester staple fiber starting from June 16, 2011.
In mid-May, Sinopec successfully signed an order for short fiber hollow products with an EU customer, becoming the first order for Sinopec’s polyester staple fiber to return to the EU market after the EU’s anti-dumping in 2005. Several other batches of export orders are also actively in operation.
