Pakistan’s textile exports fell by .% year-on-year in the first fiscal year
According to Pakistan’s “National” report, data recently released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) show that in the first nine months of this fiscal year (July 2011 to March 2012), Pakistan’s textile exports were US$9.019 billion. A decrease of 9.4% from US$9.955 billion in the same period of the previous fiscal year. Among them, textile exports in March 2012 were US$1.041 billion, a decrease of 21.72% from US$1.13 billion in March 2011. The decline in textile prices in the international market and the decline in production caused by Pakistan’s severe energy crisis are the main reasons for the decline in Pakistan’s textile exports this fiscal year. The All Pakistan Textile Factories Association (APTMA) predicts that Pakistan’s total textile exports this fiscal year may only be US$11 billion, lower than the original target of US$16 billion.
