China maintains its position as the UK’s largest textile supplier
According to the “Saudi Gazette”, China maintains its position as the UK’s largest source of textiles. At the same time, Nicaragua, Turkey and Bangladesh are quickly becoming China’s competitors.
China has become an efficient source of supply due to its easy access to raw materials and energy supplies, convenient export procedures and timely and reliable delivery. However, due to the increase in clothing production costs in China, the retail sales growth of its products in the UK has slowed down. To this end, British distributors are planning to source some of their clothing locally, or at least import it from Eastern Europe and the Middle East closer to the UK.
