Vietnam imports tons of cotton
According to Vietnam Customs statistics, Vietnam imported 84,050 tons of cotton in December 2016, a year-on-year increase of about 31% compared with 2015. Among them, the foreign direct investment (FDI) import volume reached 51,579 tons, accounting for 61% of the total import volume. In terms of foreign cotton sources: the United States (32,310 tons, accounting for 39% of the total), Brazil (18,840, 22%), and India (12,090, 14%). From August 1 to December 31, 2016, Vietnam imported a total of 426,325 tons of foreign cotton, an increase of nearly 9 points compared with the same period in 2015/16 and an increase of nearly 38 points compared with the 2014/15 year.
