Peruvian textile and apparel exports are expected to reverse the downward trend
According to a report in Peru’s “Business News” on May 4, the Peruvian Exporters Association reported that from January to March 2017, Peru’s textile and apparel exports increased by 0.5% year-on-year, of which textile exports amounted to US$85.6 million, an increase of 1%, and clothing exports increased by 1%. US$209 million, an increase of 0.3%. Based on this judgment, the export volume in 2017 will be close to US$1.2 billion, which is basically the same as the US$1.196 billion in 2016, which is expected to reverse the downward trend in recent years. The industry leader of the chamber of commerce said that the country should establish a mechanism to improve the productivity of textile and garment export enterprises to achieve the mid-term goal of exports of US$2 billion, which was achieved in 2011.
