Malaysia encourages fashion designers’ retail channels to explore international markets
According to a report by Nanyang Siang Pau on June 7, the Malaysian External Trade Development Council encourages local fashion designers and fashion entrepreneurs to explore international markets through retail channels. The bureau will assist the younger generation to obtain important information, such as international market access, market intelligence and global cooperation opportunities, and create ideal business opportunities to develop business.
The Bureau stated in a statement that well-known retail brands such as Parkson, Metro Department Store, Isetan and Gulatis can provide a platform for young local designers to compete on the international stage, such as China, India, ASEAN, Europe and other countries and regions. Introduce your brand. This is an effective strategy for young designers who want to consolidate their position in the domestic market but do not want to be left behind in the international market.
Abu Bakar, director of the lifestyle group of the Malaysian External Trade Development Council, said that as a trade promotion agency, the bureau is happy to help young fashion designers by promoting exports and carrying out activities.
The statement pointed out that this is consistent with the ambition of the National Transformation Plan 2050 (TN50), which is to cultivate the country’s future youth, and young fashion designers overseas can increase Malaysia’s exports in the fashion field.
The bureau pointed out that the export of textiles, clothing and footwear products last year reached 13.88 billion ringgit, an increase of 5.15% compared with 13.21 billion ringgit the previous year. Abubakar pointed out that this initiative encourages young Malaysian fashion designers to participate in exports. The bureau will strategically cooperate with fashion designers such as Farel Mikhail during this Eid to jointly complete the 2017 Eid Fashion Feast. It is believed that the participation of relevant industry players can promote the export of small and medium-sized enterprises, especially micro-enterprises, and increase the export contribution of small and medium-sized enterprises from 17% to 23% in 2020.
