U.S. imports of textiles and clothing billions of dollars
In June 2017, the United States imported US$8.916 billion in textiles and clothing, a year-on-year decrease of 2.35% and a month-on-month increase of 4.53%. Among them, textiles and clothing imported from China were US$3.341 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 3.17%, a month-on-month increase of 11.85%, accounting for 37.47% of the total import share of the United States, an increase of approximately 2.45 percentage points from the previous month; textiles and clothing imports from Vietnam were US$976 million, a year-on-year decrease of 0.37 %, a month-on-month increase of 4.61%, accounting for 10.95% of the total share, and an increase of about 0.01 percentage points from the previous month; textiles and clothing imported from India were US$610 million, a year-on-year increase of 4.84%, a month-on-month decrease of 9.36%, accounting for 6.84% of the total share. The proportion decreased by approximately 1.05 percentage points from the previous month.
From January to June 2017, the United States imported a total of US$49.461 billion in textiles and clothing, a year-on-year decrease of 2.03%. Among them, the cumulative imports of textiles and clothing from China were US$16.799 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 4.26%; the cumulative imports of textiles and clothing from Vietnam were US$5.671 billion, a year-on-year increase of 3.93%; the cumulative imports of textiles and clothing from India were US$3.905 billion, a year-on-year increase of 2.96%.
