The first batch of “workshop-produced” silkworm cocoons from the Yashilin Changsha project are expected to produce silk in March
Yashilin Changsha (International) SericultureSilk Intelligent Manufacturing Industry Project is located in Liuyang Economic Development Zone, with a total investment of 7 billion yuan and a construction area of approximately 900,000 square meters , including genetic screening silkworm breeding center, factoryintelligent silkworm rearing, silk reeling, spinning, weaving, printing and dyeing, clothing, health food, biomedicine, etc., involving the Silk Museum , Silk Culture Street, Mulberry Botanical Garden, etc., integrating intelligent manufacturing, popular science and education, and industrial tourism, and fully integrating the primary, secondary, and tertiary industries. The project is expected to have an annual output value of 30 billion yuan and an annual foreign exchange revenue of over US$500 million.
In a modern workshop with constant temperature and humidity, the baby silkworms raised on feed strictly formulated by technicians are about to turn into cocoons! On February 22, when the reporter came to Yashilin Changsha (International) Sericulture and Silk Intelligent Manufacturing Industry Project (hereinafter referred to as “Yashilin”) for an interview, the receptionist revealed the good news to the reporter.
Although it is still in the construction stage, the overall prototype of the project has emerged: within the walls, many buildings have been put into use, some have begun to be renovated, and some have begun to be capped.
“Since the start of the first phase in March last year, the main construction of nearly 300,000 square meters of buildings has been completed. The sericulture factory building, injection molding factory building, breeding center, and crushing factory building are being renovated; the sericulture automated production line is being installed and debugged; the laboratory It has been put into use…” Yashilin staff introduced.
“How are the silkworm babies growing?” The reporter was very curious about this.
“According to the plan, silkworm babies are expected to turn into cocoons and roll off the production line in March.” Yuan Shengyi, general technical director of the company’s R&D center, said.
“In addition to purchasing mulberry leaves from outside, from silkworm breeding, cocooning, reeling, to large-scale application of silk, Yashilin will create a 100-billion-level cocoon and silk industry chain here.” Yuan Shengyi said confidently .
“We have started construction of a 500-acre sericulture breeding base in Yong’an Town, Liuyang.” Yuan Shengyi told reporters that by April or May, you can see green mulberry forests.
“The project completed an investment of approximately 1.085 billion yuan last year, and plans to invest 2 billion yuan this year, mainly including the first phase of the project, which was put into operation in March, and the second phase of the sericulture factory, silk reeling factory, energy station, dormitory, Sewage treatment station.” The person in charge of Hunan Yashilin Cocoon Silk Biotechnology Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Yashilin Group who is responsible for the construction and operation of the project, told reporters that this year it is planned to produce 20,000 tons of silkworm cocoons and achieve an output value of 1 billion yuan. Profits and taxes are 10 million yuan. The project is planned to be divided into three phases and will be fully completed and put into operation in 2024.
A unique silk town is rising in the east of Changsha.
I remember that on March 28 last year, a sunny day, the reporter witnessed the simple and solemn groundbreaking ceremony of the Yashilin project on site. At that time, this was just a temporary hilltop adjacent to Jinyang Avenue, with bare red soil everywhere.
When I stepped here again on the 22nd, the red soil was no longer there, and a modern factory was taking shape.
The high speed of project construction allowed reporters to see the highly tacit cooperation process between the park and investors: the park is pro-business, valuing business, and wealthy businessmen, and has high work efficiency, allowing corporate investors to operate here with confidence, comfort, and peace of mind. I also saw a prosperous industrial future: a small silkworm baby, linking the three major industries of breeding, industrial processing, and services. The goal of “creating a global silk capital and rural revitalization demonstration zone” proposed by investors is happening in this area. Blueprints become reality on red soil.
By changing the genes of silkworms and using feed to feed them, 365-day factory-based silkworm farming is achieved, and the cocoon output per unit area and artificial efficiency are increased by more than a thousand times… In Yuan Shengyi’s mind, this is a “revolution” to traditional sericulture. “Disruption” is the beginning of miracles.
On a piece of red land, a modern silk town stands, which is a miracle. Although a miracle has been achieved, there is still a long way to go and many difficulties to overcome.
