Jiangsu Dafeng: “Plum Blossom” strikes and cotton lodging
After Typhoon Meihua, cotton fields in some areas of Jiangsu suffered from lodging. According to cotton farmers in Dafeng County, Jiangsu Province, local cotton fields have been affected to varying degrees due to the typhoon. Some tall cotton plants with large bolls have lodging and fallen bells, with the lodging rate at about 80%. At the same time, the moisture content of some cotton bolls that have spun out has increased. If the weather does not clear up in the near future, rotten bolls will form and the yield and quality will be directly affected. The yield rate of transplanted cotton with average growth and late-cropped cotton with late sowing is about 40%. At present, the local area is working hard to drain water to ensure the normal growth of cotton.
