Pakistan plans to invest 100 million rupees in building a new cotton gin factory
According to Pakistan’s “Business Record” report, Naseem Usman, chairman of the Karachi Cotton Brokers Forum, said recently that due to the increase in cotton production, Pakistan plans to invest about 3 billion rupees (1 US dollar is equivalent to 86 rupees) to build 40 new cotton gins. Among them, 30 are in Sindh and 10 in Punjab. Usman said that cotton production this season may reach 15 million bales, and the total textile exports in the 2011-12 fiscal year (July 2011 to June 2012) are expected to reach 20 billion US dollars.
