How to dress cool in summer? Pure cotton, red sunscreen
Many people have misunderstandings or understanding of “How to dress cool in summer? Pure cotton, red sunscreen“. Let me take you with me to share it with your friends and explore more about ” How to dress cool in summer? Pure cotton, red sunscreen” knowledge…
What to wear to stay cool in summer? Is it a white cotton T-shirt, a short-sleeved shirt with quick-drying properties, or…
On the morning of the 8th, we invited Peng Shixiong, an expert from the People’s Livelihood Quality Laboratory Expert Service Group and the Chief of the Inspection Section of the Chongqing Fiber Inspection Bureau, to tell you through experiments and experience what colors and fabrics to wear in summer to keep you cool. , and also safe and secure.
Does white clothing feel cooler?
Experimental results: Wearing red clothes is cooler
Experiment: Red and white clothing PK under the scorching sun
What color clothing should you wear to feel cool? The reporter randomly surveyed 15 citizens, and 12 of them believed that wearing white or light-colored clothing in summer is cooler.
However, the answer given by Peng Shixiong was red. In order to find the answer to this question more intuitively, we conducted a field experiment.
The inspector purchased two short-sleeved pure cotton T-shirts of the same style but different colors in a work clothing store, one was white and the other was red.
At 3 pm on the 8th, the inspectors began to conduct experiments. He exposed the two pieces of clothing in the sun and put a thermometer under each piece of clothing to observe the temperature changes inside the clothing.
The starting temperature of the thermometer is 29 degrees Celsius. Under the sun’s exposure, the temperatures of both pieces of clothing rose rapidly. Five minutes later, the thermometer temperatures under the white clothing and the red clothing showed 34.5 degrees Celsius and 37 degrees Celsius respectively.
Twenty minutes later, the thermometer readings under the two pieces of clothing reversed. The white one was 36 degrees Celsius, and the red one was 33.5 degrees Celsius.
Suggestion: Wear red clothing for better sun protection
Peng Shixiong explained the reason for this experimental result: “Because the red wavelength can absorb a large amount of ultraviolet rays in the sun, the sun protection effect is good.”
Peng Shixiong said that the ability of other colors to absorb ultraviolet rays is relatively weak. Although light-colored clothing can reflect some ultraviolet rays, its ability to absorb ultraviolet rays is not good. In other words, ultraviolet rays will penetrate the clothes and reach the skin, which is more likely to cause sunburn.
Therefore, if you have been exposed to the sun for a long time, wearing white clothes will not make you feel cooler than wearing red clothes. At the same time, white clothing may also contain fluorescent whitening agents, which will reflect harmful substances to the face.
On the contrary, the heat absorbed by red and some dark-colored clothing can become the driving force for the formation of convection in the clothing. The air convection in the clothing can take away sweat and part of the heat from the surface of the skin, and the human body will naturally feel cooler.
Generally speaking, wearing dark clothing such as red or navy blue in summer can provide better sun protection and make you feel cooler at the same time.
Quick-drying clothing feels cool to wear
Experimental results: Wearing silk clothing is cooler in Chongqing
Experiment: In summer, many people like to wear clothing with quick-drying functions, because such clothing is very light and can dry quickly after getting wet.
However, in Chongqing, if you wear clothes with quick-drying functions, you may get hotter. The reason is that although such clothing dries quickly, its moisture absorption performance is very poor. After a person sweats, the sweat easily sticks to the skin, making people feel uncomfortable.
In response to this statement, the inspectors conducted two comparative experiments. First, the testers compared the water absorption of quick-drying clothing fabrics and pure cotton clothing fabrics. It was found that pure cotton fabrics outperformed quick-drying fabrics.
After that, the inspectors put the two samples into the constant temperature laboratory for testing. The laboratory temperature was maintained at a constant 22 degrees Celsius and the relative humidity was maintained at 68%. After 24 hours, the testing personnel cut out 100 grams of each sample and took them away from the laboratory.
The inspector dried two 100-gram samples and weighed them separately. As a result, the weight of the quick-drying fabric sample was 99.6 grams, and the weight of the pure cotton sample was 92 grams.
Experimental results show that 100 grams of pure cotton fabric can absorb 8 grams of moisture, while 100 grams of quick-drying fabric can only absorb 0.4 grams of moisture.
Recommendation: Pure cotton and silk clothing are suitable for summer
Peng Shixiong said that quick-drying fabrics are mainly made of chemical fiber polyester. Although this kind of fabric is light and thin and has quick-drying functions, it has poor water absorption and breathability. When worn in Chongqing’s relatively humid and hot summer climate, it is easy to cause Discomfort.
Relatively speaking, pure cotton has good breathability and water absorption properties. Citizens will feel cooler wearing pure cotton work clothes to spend the summer in Chongqing.
“Silk, cotton, linen and other natural fibers are all very good summer clothing materials.” Peng Shixiong said that mulberry silk, also known as silk fabric, has good skin-friendliness and hygroscopicity, making it easy to wear when wearing It also has a cooling feel and is one of the cool summer clothes to wear.
Peng Shixiong later suggested that when buying summer clothing, make sure to choose clothing with loose-fitting openings such as collars, sleeves, and trouser legs. Wearing such clothing, when walking aroundIt can produce a larger blowing effect and make you feel cooler.
It’s even hotter to “finish your body” in summer
In summer, many male compatriots like to go shirtless. However, Peng Shixiong reminded that when the temperature is close to or exceeds human body temperature (around 36.8°C), being bare-chested not only does not keep you cool, but it actually makes you feel hotter.
Peng Shixiong explained that shirtlessness can only increase skin radiation and conductive heat dissipation when the skin temperature is higher than the ambient temperature.
Summer temperatures are generally close to or above 37°C. Not only is the skin unable to dissipate heat, but it absorbs heat from the external environment.
Therefore, wearing cool clothing in summer is the first choice.
