The 2021 Yangtze River Delta Green Design Summit focuses on green design to help achieve the “double carbon” goal
Against the background of the global carbon peak and carbon neutrality goal, the textile industry is making efforts to achieve green and low-carbon transformation. Recently, the 2021 Yangtze River Delta Green Design·Keqiao Summit with the theme of “Green·Fashion·Industry” came to a successful conclusion. This is a collision of wisdom and a dialogue that builds consensus, providing intellectual support for the innovation and upgrading of Keqiao’sindustrial cluster.
It is reported that this event is sponsored by China Fashion Color Association, Keqiao District People’s Government, China Textile City Construction Management Committee, Keqiao District Science and Technology Association, Keqiao District Science and Technology Association, It is jointly organized by the Qiao District Printing and Dyeing Industry Cluster Upgrading Service Center and the National Textile and Fabrics Museum. Focusing on “low-carbon technology”, “green design” and other related topics, many outstanding experts in textile, dyeing and finishing, green design and other fields were invited to bring a lot of useful information.
Make sustainable fashion design
“We need to make improvements from the source, that is, from the design end.” Hu Kehua, deputy director of the Social Responsibility Office and director of the sustainable development project of the China Textile Industry Federation, made an on-site Sharing the theme of “Sustainable Development under the Vision of Carbon Neutrality”, he said that when making textiles, green design can solve 70% to 80% of resource and environmental problems.
He said that based on sustainable management of the entire life cycle, the entire value chain needs to be reconstructed from design, raw materials, production, consumption to post-processing. Such a reconstruction is very difficult for both enterprises and designers, because it requires systematic thinking and systematic support.
It is a global consensus that the global fashion industry must comply with temperature control within 1.5°C in 2050 and achieve a 30% emission reduction by 2030. At last year’s Third World Textile Merchant Conference, an international textile and apparel conference, the “China Shaoxing Keqiao Climate Action Declaration” was officially released. Keqiao District pledged to join the Climate Innovation 2030 Action and cooperated with the China Textile and Apparel Industry Federation. Set Keqiao climate action goals, formulate and promote low-carbon enterprise policies and low-carbon product incentive mechanisms, and actively participate in global climate governance. “There are 22 companies participating, which sends a strong signal to the global industry and is exciting.” Hu Kehua said.
Green design drives new prospects
What can designers do to help achieve carbon neutrality through green design? The first thing to do is to change from linear thinking to circular thinking, so that the life cycle approach from the cradle can become a possibility. Hao Ninghui, deputy dean and doctoral supervisor of the School of Urban Design of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Young “Yangtze River Scholar” of the Ministry of Education, and deputy secretary-general of the Beijing Green Design Promotion Association, gave a speech on the theme of “From Linear System to Circular System: Green Design Promotes Carbon Neutrality” Sharing, he believes that the decisions designers make every day have a very large impact on the climate and can build a low-carbon future that does not rely on fossil fuels.
The President of the China Textile and Apparel Industry Federation stated at the 2020 China Textile Conference that green development is becoming an important source of value. The quantification of environmental impact, the full life cycle of green governance, and the greening of capital will become a trend. Enterprises in the industry need to make timely adjustments. Only by incorporating green development into the enterprise’s strategic system, life system, innovation system and value system can they win the initiative in the future. Zhu Sha, president of the China Fashion Color Association, said that holding this event is in response to the China Association for Science and Technology’s “Science and Technology Innovation China”, using expert intellectual resources to serve industrial upgrading and development, and promoting the efficient linkage of “government, industry, academia, research and financial services”.
It is worth mentioning that the signing ceremony for the construction cooperation of the Shaoxing Service Station of the China Fashion Color Association Expert Service Group was also held at the event site. “The successful signing of the cooperation agreement will further strengthen the cooperation and exchanges between the association and Keqiao’s textile industry, fully serve Keqiao’s innovation-driven development, and strive to create a model for Shaoxing’s deep integration of science and technology and economy,” Zhu Sha said.
