Sudan’s cotton export revenue will reach 100 million US dollars
The Sudan Cotton Company stated that in 2011, the company invested in irrigated land with an area of 408,000 feddans and rain-irrigated land with an area of 20,000 feddans. It is expected that cotton export revenue will reach 700 million US dollars.
The general manager of Sudan Cotton Company emphasized that the company is committed to restoring the cotton industry’s leading role in Sudan’s economy and promoting labor employment.
He pointed out that in the 1990s, Sudan’s cotton output reached 1.3 million bales, but now the output has dropped to 130,000 bales. The reason for the decline in production is the lack of production input, financial support and competition in the international cotton industry.
