Cotton prices in India fell slightly, yarn prices continued to rise
As India’s domestic cotton prices stabilize at a high level, both domestic and export prices of Indian cotton yarn increased during the week of February 16-22. Among them, the price of cotton yarn in Punjab Province increased by 1 rupee/kg. In terms of export, the FOB price of 30S pure cotton combed increased by 2 cents, an increase of 0.62%, an increase of 6.56% compared with the past four weeks, and an increase of 25% compared with the same period last year; 30S blended cotton increased by 2 cents, or 0.62%. The FOB price of yarn increased by 3 cents, or 1.05%, which was a decrease of 1.69% compared with the past four weeks and an increase of 23.4% compared with the same period last year.
In contrast, China’s domestic cotton yarn prices have begun to decline with the decline in international cotton prices, so Indian cotton yarn exports to the Chinese market have begun to decrease significantly.
