Canada implements voluntary recall of Chinese-made children’s onesies
On February 23, 2017, Health Canada and LittleMe jointly announced a voluntary recall of children’s onesies made in China.
The product recalled this time is a children’s onesie set, suitable for babies aged 9 months. There are two styles: rose pattern (RoseSwirl), model number LLQ04467N, and flower pattern (FloralToss), model number LLQ04465N.
49 units of the recalled products were sold at Nordstrom in Canada from December 2015 to February 2017. The reason for the recall is that Health Canada’s sampling tests determined that the recalled products did not meet the requirements of Canadian law regarding the flammability of children’s pajamas. Children’s loose-fitting pajamas are more likely to come into contact with ignition sources such as stoves, candles and matches than tight-fitting pajamas. Once ignited, loose pajamas will burn quickly and may cause severe burns over large areas of a child’s body. Therefore, cotton is not allowed in loose fitting pajamas fabrics. To date, Health Canada and Nordstrom have not received any reports of accidents or injuries related to the use of this product. Health Canada advises consumers to immediately stop using the recalled products and return them to Nordstrom for a full refund. Canada implements voluntary recall of Chinese-made children’s onesies
