Xincheng, Guangxi: Science and technology commissioners provide services in spring to help increase production and income of the sericulture industry
In order to further develop rural industries and increase farmers’ income, in recent years, departments at all levels in Xincheng County, Guangxi have attached great importance to the scientific and technological services of the sericulture industry. Every year, they organize and dispatch science and technology commissioners and technical experts to the fields to deliver services. Guide farmers to plant mulberry and raise sericulture, promote the efficient development of the sericulture industry in Xincheng County, and effectively consolidate and expand the results of poverty alleviation.
On February 23, 2022, the Xincheng County Agricultural and Rural Affairs Bureau teamed up with the Guangxi Sericulture Technology Extension Station and Laibin Academy of Agricultural Sciences expert science and technology commissioners to carry out publicity, training and science and technology service activities in Ma’an Village, Hongdu Town. This event was specifically aimed at the impact of the recent rainy and cold wave weather on the growth of mulberry trees. On-site training was provided on mulberry tree frost and cold protection technology, spring management and protection technology, etc. 115 silkworm farmers were trained and 400 copies of technical information were distributed, effectively improving the silkworm farmers’ mulberry tree frost and cold resistance and spring management skills. The level of management and protection further enhances the confidence of sericulture farmers in controlling sericulture production in spring. Xincheng County will take the science and technology training activities as an opportunity to increase the intensity of scientific and technological service activities in the sericulture industry, comprehensively improve the scientific and technological content of sericulture production in Xincheng County, and promote the highquality of the sericulture industry in Xincheng County Development, assisting the effective connection between poverty alleviation and rural revitalization, and promoting the economic development of Xincheng County.
