CPTPP boosts Vietnam’s textile and apparel export growth
Vietnam’s textile and apparel exports totaled US$31.5 billion in 2017, a year-on-year increase of more than 10%.
The CPTPP agreement signed on March 8, 2018 will create opportunities for the development of Vietnam’s textile and apparel industry in the next few years. Before the signing of this agreement, Vietnam was already the world’s second largest exporter of textiles and clothing after China. After the implementation of CPTPP, Vietnam’s textile and apparel exports will receive another boost, especially to countries such as Canada, Mexico, and Peru, which have not yet reached free trade agreements with Vietnam. Experts predict that Vietnam’s exports to CPTPP countries will reach US$5 billion in 2018, a year-on-year increase of 20%. Vietnam’s exports to CPTPP countries will maintain the country’s textile and apparel export growth rate at 10% in 2018. (Title: CPTPP boosts Vietnam’s textile and apparel export growth)
