Textile and apparel exports continue to decline
In May, in terms of RMB, the overall export of textiles and clothing continued to decline, with clothing experiencing a larger decline. According to data released by the General Administration of Customs, textile and clothing exports that month were 147.65 billion yuan, down 8.3%, of which textile exports were 70.83 billion yuan, down 1%, and clothing exports were 76.82 billion yuan, down 14.1%. From January to May, the cumulative exports of textiles and clothing were 656.28 billion yuan, a decrease of 3.8%, of which textile exports were 305.23 billion yuan, an increase of 3.1%, and clothing exports were 351.05 billion yuan, a decrease of 9%.
The situation was slightly better in terms of US dollars. Textile and apparel exports that month were US$23.44 billion, basically the same. Among them, textile exports were US$11.24 billion, an increase of 8%, and clothing exports were US$12.2 billion, a decrease of 6.2%. From January to May, the cumulative exports of textiles and clothing were US$102.23 billion, an increase of 3.3%, of which textile exports were US$47.58 billion, an increase of 10.8%, and clothing exports were US$54.65 billion, a decrease of 2.3%.
