Myanmar’s garment manufacturing industry is developing rapidly
According to Myanmar’s “Yedna Bang” report on June 12: Entrepreneurs in Myanmar’s garment manufacturing industry recently stated that by 2020, Myanmar’s garment manufacturing industry will create nearly 1.5 million jobs across Myanmar and bring nearly 80- US$10 billion in foreign exchange earnings. The garment manufacturing industry is not only an important industry that promotes Myanmar’s economic development, but also the field that provides the most employment opportunities. According to reports, due to the impact of economic sanctions, Myanmar’s garment manufacturing industry has developed slowly since 2003. It has only gradually developed since 2011. From 2012 to 2015, the garment industry generated a total of US$910-1.36 billion in foreign exchange. In the first 11 months of 2017, foreign exchange earnings reached US$1.6 billion. According to the 2015 employment statistics, the garment manufacturing industry has provided more than 600,000 jobs across Myanmar.
