Department of Commerce: The capriciousness of the United States is deeply regrettable
China and the United States have conducted multiple rounds of consultations on economic and trade issues, trying to resolve differences and achieve a win-win situation. We deeply regret that the United States ignored the consensus reached by both sides, acted erratically and provoked a trade war. This move not only harms bilateral interests but also undermines the world trade order. China is firmly opposed to this.
China does not want to fight a trade war, but in the face of the short-sighted behavior of the United States that harms others and does not benefit itself, China has to fight back forcefully, resolutely defend its national interests and people’s interests, and resolutely defend economic globalization and the multilateral trading system. We will immediately introduce taxation measures of the same scale and intensity, and all economic and trade results previously negotiated between the two sides will become invalid at the same time.
In today’s era, launching a trade war is not in the global interest. We call on all countries to take joint actions to resolutely stop this outdated and retrogressive behavior and firmly defend the common interests of mankind.
