Vietnam has its first local polyester fiber factory
The Dinh Vu polyester fiber factory funded by Vietnam Petroleum, Petrochemicals and Textile Fibers Joint Stock Company (PVTEX) has produced the first batch of domestically produced polyester synthetic fibers (PSF) in Vietnam.
This marks a strategic leap for Vietnam, and the content of domestic fiber in Vietnamese textiles will increase.
This factory is located in Dinh Vu Industrial Park, a port in the northern part of Haiphong City, covering an area of 15 hectares. With a production capacity of 175,000 tons, the factory is expected to stably meet approximately 40% of the total demand for polyester staple fiber in the domestic textile industry.
In this process, Vietnam will reduce imports of polyester staple fiber, saving approximately US$400 million per year.
In addition, this factory will also promote the growth of the domestic PSF industry and create approximately 700 formal jobs. Annual sales exceed VND 6 trillion.
At the same time, PVTEX has begun investing approximately VND 140 billion to build a PhuBai fiber factory in Dinh Vu Industrial Park.
